le Crocodile Lunch Review

le Crocodile in Vancouver, BC at Suite 100 – 909 Burrard St. (at Smithe)
View le Crocodile’s website here

Tart made of goat cheese, a hint of tangerine, and topped with sesame seeds
Best part about this was that it was free ― compliments of the chef !
This was nice and flakey.  You can taste the tangerine but it doesn’t take away from the goat cheese flavour.  The sesame seeds were also a nice touch!

‘le Crocodile Classic’ Tomato & Gin Soup (Appetizer #1)
Simple tomato soup is boring, so le Crocodile added some gin to spice things up!

Fresh Pan-Seared Quebec Foie Gras (Appetizer #2)
topped with a Grilled Scallop, in a Calvados Reduction and served with Fresh Cantaloupe
This was one of their specials for today and I actually ordered this by accident.  When the waitress was introducing the lunch specials all I heard was ‘scallop’ and potato’ so I said I wanted this.  I completely missed the main part of the dish, which was the foie gras (French for duck/goose liver).  Duck liver didn’t sound like my cup of tea but it was surprisingly appetizing (and also very filling).

[Maybelline Master Precise] VS [Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner]

I played with two new liquid eye-liners from my friend. Though initially I had not deliberately planned for this review/comparison, I thought.. why not :)

(I like drawing eyes, and please excuse my creepyish hand and the difference in skin colour due to different lighting and camera.)

LEFT EYE: Maybelline Master Precise

RIGHT EYE: Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner

-They are drawn on the back of my hand.
-I don’t have OCD; I only wash my hands a few times a day.
-Click on names for link to purchase. :)

[After 6 hours] I didn’t manage to get a photo of it right after I had applied them onto my hand, though they look almost, if not exactly, the same. The Maybelline Master Precise is on the left while the Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner is on the right.

G-men Ramen @ Richmond

Yesterday G.E.M’s new song “Someday I’ll Fly” released its music video, so my friends and I decided to go to Richmond and have some yumyum ramen at G-MEN to celebrate :D (cus those two totally relate…(Naaah actually we just went to enjoy the food there.))

Here is the video by the way. Check it out!

This one’s OK. I like her other songs more. :D

Spending a whole hour to go to Richmond just to have ramen? Totally worth it.

This is how the restaurant looks like from where I was sitting. The service was excellent. (Don’t read this section if you have something better to do. Just know the service was splendid. Only filling the gap here cus I’m slightly obsessive compulsive. Slightly.) Unlike other restaurants I’ve been to, the people here actually know how to wait/serve and can execute it very well. The whole crew at the restaurant greeted us (Japanese style) when we walked in. The waitress was very polite and charming as she always had a smile on her face. Don’t worry she’s not on her phone. She’s actually taking your order! :) All in all, best service I’ve received in a loooong time.

My friends all ordered Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen (Squaaaares don’t just choose the first on the menu! I joke I joke.)If you don’t like it oily, make sure to tell them when you order, though I actually liked the oiliness. OILOILOIL #obnoxioussounds

I ordered Tonkatsu Ae Soba, one of their top selling soupless ramen dishes. First bite, and I’m already lovin’ it. BADABABABA GMEN RAMEN.SO GOOD SO SO GOOD WHY DO I NOT LIVE BESIDE GMEN I WANT RAMEN FROM THERE ALL DAY ERR DAY

Excuse le spaz, here are some other pictures: Continue reading

[Music Journal] SWEAT – Final Project

During spring break, I was at this music production workshop-like thing (called SWEAT) at the Art Institute of Vancouver with some fellow co-bloggers.  At the institute, I was able to familiarize myself with the basics of Apple’s Logic Pro and I was also taught some songwriting tips.

On the third day of the course, we were assigned to produce an original track.  So after learning about things like ABACAB and keys, I started on my very first self-composed piece.

Listen to it here (my favourite part’s the end, so try to listen all the way):

Overall, the experience was very enjoyable and I feel like I learned a lot.  It definitely motivated me to keep exploring the world of music production.

(I also had a really great instructor. His website : http://dbernsteinmusic.com/fr_home.cfm)

最高の人生の終り方~ Ending Planner

*This is not a review*

Synopsis

“Yamashita plays the head of a funeral service shop that deals with bodies brought in by the police, including suicide and murder victims. He reluctantly inherited the shop after his father passed away, but as he learns about the lives of the various deceased people that are brought to him, he begins to mature. Another highlight of the story is his romance with a rookie female detective.” -Drama wiki

So Basically I started this drama cause www.dramacrazy.net gave me it as a recommendation and at first I didn’t know that yamapi was in it. BUT HE IS , SO THATS NICE

So far this drama has aired 9 episodes so I can’t say too much about it
There is only 10 episodes though , so i guess we’ll be seeing the ending soon

First thoughts on the drama

The idea is fairly original I would say. Funeral service shop, i’d think original.
I wouldn’t say i was “hooked” from the start but i wasn’t put off by it and was interested enough to keep going. It does stay at the same pace and doesn’t really pick up yet ( its still airing ) but it definitely doesn’t slow down so if you like it at first, you’ll continue to like it :)
I think this drama is more suited for a chillax time, its not really meant to keep you on the edge of your seat with suspense. The plot isn’t very well thoughtout  but its fun to watch :) I can get through without feeling bored.

Ihara Masato Yamashita Tomohisa

Yamashita plays the role of the second eldest in a family of 5 but acts like the eldest.
I like his character in this. Theres the sense of maturity and seriousness combined with a bit of the playfulness of his character in nobuta ( BUT NOT TO THAT EXTENT CAUSE THAT WOULD BE WEIRD )
It feels kinda like his kurosagi character
( If you haven’t watched those dramas, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !! )
I don’t wanna say more cause i might ruin some stuff, even though they do tell you pretty all the stuff at Ep.1 Continue reading
